Larger UK companies in liquidation or administration
Type a company name, a former name or a company number. 3,207 companies in an insolvency procedure, from the Companies House register of 1 October 2026.
Insolvency practitioner or former director? The company's internal data may still be an asset — see data assets in an insolvency estate. Or a dated record report.
What this is
Companies House records the status of every UK company. This site keeps the companies that are in liquidation, administration, receivership or a voluntary arrangement, that last filed full, group or medium-sized accounts, and whose last accounts date from 2019 or later — businesses of some size that were trading recently. Each record gives the procedure, the last accounts, the activity, the previous names and, where the address says so, the firm at whose office the company is now registered.
Who uses it
- Creditors and suppliers — is this company in a procedure, and under which name is it now registered?
- Former employees and customers — find a company that was renamed during its insolvency by its former name.
- Insolvency practitioners and former directors — see data assets in an insolvency estate.
What it is not
Not Companies House, not The Gazette, and not a certificate. The size test is the type of accounts last filed, not a headcount: a holding company with no staff can file full accounts. The status is the one on the monthly register file; for today's status and the appointed practitioner, check Companies House or The Gazette. Being listed here says nothing about why a company failed.
